I have been getting a lot of calls from claimants and a few concerned physician offices regarding the new prescription card that is being issued to FECA claimants that they are now required to use when getting prescriptions related to their workers compensation from OWCP.
It appears that this is a change that should have little or no impact, other than claimants needing to present the new card at their regular pharmacy. This process will save OWCP on the cost of prescriptions as OptumRX supposedly negotiates a better price than what OWCP was paying itself.
The cards appear to be accepted in all the major pharmacies as well as many independents.
