CNSI and provider problems with faxed authorization requests

OWCP provides instructions to medical providers in federal employee workers compensation cases that include the option of requesting medical authorization by fax or electronically.


Apparently, if the faxed request forms are not completed correctly and entirely they are not keyed into the CNSI portal and instead a letter will be sent via USPS, what they call "RTP/Returned to Provider."

If your medical provider is telling you that they are sending in authorization requests to 800 215 4901 but CNSI is telling the provider that they are not receiving the authorization form, this is because information is incorrect or missing on the form.
